La música de ZAQ vuelve a cruzarse con el universo de Classroom of the Elite, pero esta vez con un matiz distinto, más íntimo, elegante y cargado de misterio. Tras varias colaboraciones con la adaptación al anime de Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e, la artista japonesa presenta “Liar Veil”, tema de cierre para Classroom of the Elite Season 4, una canción que no busca abrir la puerta al conflicto, sino dejar al espectador atrapado en sus consecuencias emocionales.
En esta entrevista especial para MultiAnime, ZAQ nos habla sobre el proceso creativo detrás de “Liar Veil”, la mezcla de hip-hop y jazz, la influencia psicológica de personajes como Ayanokoji, Karuizawa, Horikita y Sakayanagi, así como su deseo de conectar con los fans de México y Latinoamérica a través de la música.

1. «Liar Veil» marca tu cuarta colaboración con la franquicia de Classroom of the Elite, pero esta vez interpretas el tema de cierre en lugar del de apertura. ¿Cómo cambió tu enfoque creativo al componer una canción destinada a cerrar cada episodio en vez de introducirlo?
ZAQ:
En las canciones de apertura es muy importante transmitir una sensación de impulso, porque la historia está a punto de comenzar. Sin embargo, en una canción de cierre lo importante es qué permanece en el corazón del espectador después de terminar el episodio y si logra despertar el deseo de volver la semana siguiente.
Con «Liar Veil» intenté dejar en los espectadores una sensación persistente relacionada con los temas que existen dentro de Classroom of the Elite, como aquello que se muestra y aquello que permanece oculto.
2. El sonido de «Liar Veil» combina elementos de hip-hop y jazz, manteniendo al mismo tiempo una fuerte conexión con la atmósfera psicológica de Classroom of the Elite. ¿Qué inspiró la dirección musical de esta canción y qué emociones esperabas transmitir a los oyentes?
ZAQ:
Sentí que el groove mecánico propio del hip-hop y la resonancia inestable y misteriosa del jazz encajaban perfectamente con la atmósfera de la serie.
Además, pensé que combinar mis raíces en el hip-hop con los elementos de jazz que han caracterizado a Classroom of the Elite hasta ahora daría como resultado una sensación muy elegante y estilizada.
Me haría feliz que los oyentes pudieran percibir una sensación madura, seductora y sofisticada.
3. La letra de «Liar Veil» está escrita desde la perspectiva de la heroína y contiene múltiples capas emocionales y simbólicas. ¿Hubo algún personaje o momento específico de la historia que influyera especialmente en tu proceso de escritura?
ZAQ:
Incorporé emociones de muchos personajes diferentes.
Por ejemplo, los sentimientos románticos que Kei Karuizawa tiene hacia Ayanokoji, la amistad y admiración que Horikita siente por él como compañero, los celos que Sakayanagi y los agentes de la White Room dirigen hacia Ayanokoji, e incluso el sentimiento de temor que los propios espectadores sienten hacia él.
Mi intención fue plasmar los sentimientos de una gran variedad de personajes dentro de la canción.
4. Tienes formación en música clásica, pero también incorporas influencias del rock, R&B y hip-hop. ¿Cómo equilibras todos esos estilos al crear canciones para anime que sigan sonando auténticamente a ZAQ?
ZAQ:
Las canciones para anime son música que carga sobre sus hombros el mundo de la obra y las emociones de sus personajes.
Por eso, antes de pensar en qué género quiero utilizar, suelo preguntarme qué tipo de sonido necesita esa obra en particular.
A partir de ahí selecciono los elementos necesarios.
Al final, lo que probablemente hace que una canción suene a ZAQ son la melodía y las letras. Sin importar el género, mis tendencias naturales aparecen en líneas melódicas que transmiten emociones de forma directa y en elecciones de palabras un poco inusuales.
Más que algo que controle conscientemente, es una parte natural de mí.
5. A lo largo de tu carrera has trabajado no solo como cantante, sino también como compositora, arreglista y productora para numerosos artistas. Cuando creas tu propia música, ¿existe alguna diferencia entre “ZAQ la artista” y “ZAQ la creadora”?
ZAQ:
La «ZAQ artista» es muy honesta respecto a lo que quiere expresar en cada momento.
Valoro mucho los impulsos emocionales y siento que transformo directamente mis heridas y mi pasión en música.
Por otro lado, la «ZAQ creadora» adopta una perspectiva más amplia y objetiva.
Pienso cuidadosamente qué melodías o letras harán que la voz de otra persona resulte más atractiva. Más que expresar mi propio estilo, me concentro en extraer la esencia de ese artista.
Sin embargo, ambas comparten algo en común: el deseo de mover las emociones de las personas.
Al final, creo que esa es la razón por la que hago música.
6. Los temas de anime suelen quedar ligados a recuerdos y emociones muy especiales para los fans de todo el mundo. ¿Qué te gustaría que sintieran los espectadores internacionales al escuchar «Liar Veil» mientras siguen la cuarta temporada de Classroom of the Elite?
ZAQ:
Construí esta canción de manera que su groove y la belleza de su melodía puedan transmitirse más allá de las diferencias de idioma y nacionalidad.
Me haría muy feliz que los oyentes pudieran descubrir que ZAQ también puede expresar una atmósfera madura y con influencias del jazz, manteniéndose fiel al espíritu de Classroom of the Elite.
7. Tienes muchos seguidores en Latinoamérica y especialmente en México que disfrutan de tu música y de tus canciones para anime. ¿Te gustaría visitar esta región en el futuro para ofrecer un concierto o participar en algún evento? Además, ¿qué mensaje te gustaría compartir con tus fans latinoamericanos?
ZAQ:
Por supuesto. Me encantaría poder visitar Latinoamérica algún día.
Siempre he tenido la impresión de que las personas de esta región viven la música y las emociones con una pasión extraordinaria.
A través de las redes sociales puedo sentir el cariño que muchas personas, especialmente en México y otros países latinoamericanos, tienen por mi música y por las canciones de anime que he interpretado.
Eso me da muchísima motivación.
Muchas gracias por apoyarme desde tan lejos.
Su pasión realmente está llegando hasta Japón.
Seguiré creando música capaz de conectar corazones más allá de las fronteras.

- “Liar Veil” marks your fourth collaboration with the Classroom of the Elite anime series, but this time you are performing the ending theme instead of the opening. How did your creative approach change when composing a song meant to close each episode rather than introduce it?
「ライアーヴェール」は、『ようこそ実力至上主義の教室へ』シリーズとの4度目のコラボレーションとなりますが、今回はオープニングテーマではなくエンディングテーマです。各話の始まりを飾る曲ではなく、物語を締めくくる曲として制作するにあたって、曲作りの考え方にはどのような違いがありましたか？
（Answer / ご回答）オープニング曲は、「これから物語が始まる」みたいな推進力が大事なんですけど、エンディングは「その話を見終わったあと、何を心に残すか。来週も見たいと思えるか」が重要だと思っています。
「ライアーヴェール」は、『ようこそ実力至上主義の教室へ』の中にある「見えているものと隠しているもの」みたいなテーマを、視聴者が余韻として持ち帰れるように意識しました。
For opening songs, what’s important is a sense of momentum, since the story is about to begin. But for ending songs, it’s about what stays with the viewer after finishing the episode, and what makes them want to come back next week. With “Liar Veil,” I tried to leave viewers with a lingering aftertaste of the themes in Classroom of the Elite, such as “what is seen and what is hidden.”
- The sound of “Liar Veil” blends hip-hop and jazz elements while still feeling deeply connected to the psychological atmosphere of Classroom of the Elite. What inspired the musical direction of this song, and what emotions did you want listeners to experience?
「ライアーヴェール」のサウンドは、ヒップホップとジャズの要素を融合させながらも、『ようこそ実力至上主義の教室へ』の心理的な雰囲気に深く結びついています。この曲のサウンドの方向性は、どのような発想から生まれたのでしょうか？ また、リスナーにはどんな感情や余韻を感じてほしいと思っていましたか？
（Answer / ご回答）ヒップホップの持つ無機質なグルーヴ感と、ジャズの不安定で妖しい響きって、その空気感とすごく相性が良いと感じました。また、ZAQのルーツでもあるHIPHOPと、これまでの「ようこそ実力至上主義の教室へ」で見せてきたジャズのテイストを混ぜ合わせたら、とてもおしゃれな雰囲気になると思いました。妖艶でセクシーな大人っぽい感覚を受け取ってもらったら嬉しいです
I felt that the mechanical groove of hip-hop and the unstable, somewhat eerie resonance of jazz go very well with that atmosphere. Also, I thought that blending my hip-hop roots with the jazz elements that have been featured throughout Classroom of the Elite would create a very stylish mood. I hope listeners can experience a mature, seductive vibe.
- The lyrics of “Liar Veil” are written from the heroine’s perspective and contain many emotional and symbolic layers. Was there a specific character or scene from the story that especially influenced your writing process?
「ライアーヴェール」の歌詞はヒロインの視点から書かれており、さまざまな感情や象徴的な表現が重ねられています。制作にあたって、特に着想のもとになったキャラクターや場面はありましたか？
（Answer / ご回答）軽井沢が綾小路に向ける恋愛感情や、堀北が綾小路に向ける戦友として認めている友情、坂柳や「ホワイトルームの刺客」たちが綾小路にむける嫉妬の感情、視聴者が綾小路に向ける恐怖の感情などもいれこんでいるので、あらゆるキャラの心情を入れ込んでいるつもりです。
I incorporated emotions from all kinds of characters. For example, Karuizawa’s romantic feelings toward Ayanokoji, Horikita’s sense of friendship and recognition of him as a comrade, Sakayanagi’s and the White Room agents’ jealousy toward Ayanokoji, and even the viewers’ sense of fear toward him.
- You have experience in classical music, but you also draw inspiration from genres like rock, R&B, and hip-hop. How do you balance these different influences when creating anime music that still feels uniquely “ZAQ”?
あなたはクラシック音楽の経験を持ちながら、ロック、R&B、ヒップホップといったさまざまなジャンルからも影響を受けていらっしゃいますが、アニソンを作る際、それらをどのように取り入れながら「ZAQらしさ」のある楽曲にしているのでしょうか？
（Answer / ご回答）アニソンって、作品の世界観やキャラクターの感情を背負う音楽なので、「このジャンルをやりたい」より先に、「この作品にはどんな音が必要か」を考えることが多いです。そこから必要な要素を選びます。最終的に「ZAQらしさ」になるのは、多分、メロディと言葉だと思っています。どんなジャンルに寄せても、「感情をまっすぐ貫くメロディライン」とか、「少しひねった言葉選び」には、自分の癖が自然と出るので、そこは意識というより、もう体質に近いですね。
Anime songs need to reflect the setting and emotions of the characters, so rather than starting with a specific genre in mind, I think about what kind of sound the anime needs. From there, I select the necessary elements. In the end, what makes it uniquely ZAQ is probably the melody and lyrics. No matter what genre I lean into, my tendencies naturally come through in things like melodies that directly convey emotion or slightly unconventional word choices. So it’s less something I consciously control, and more like part of my nature.
- Over the years, you have worked not only as a singer, but also as a composer, arranger, and producer for many artists. When creating your own music, do you feel there is a difference between “ZAQ the artist” and “ZAQ the creator”?
長年にわたり、あなたは歌手としてだけでなく、多くのアーティストの作曲家、編曲家、プロデューサーとしてもご活動されています。ご自身の音楽を制作する際、「アーティストとしてのZAQ」と「クリエイターとしてのZAQ」では、意識や向き合い方に違いはありますか？
（Answer / ご回答）『アーティストとしてのZAQ』は、「今、自分が何を叫びたいか」にすごく正直なんです。感情の衝動を大事にするというか、自分の傷や熱を、そのまま音楽に変えていく感覚があります。
一方で、『クリエイターとしてのZAQ』は、もっと俯瞰しています。「この人の声なら、どのメロディや歌詞が一番魅力的に聴こえるか」を冷静に考える。自分の色を出すというより、相手の核を引き出す意識が強いですね。
ただ、どちらにも共通しているのは、「感情が動かしたい」ということです。結局そこが、私にとって音楽をやる理由なんだと思います。
ZAQ the artist is very honest about her feelings. It’s all about emotional impulse and channeling my own hurt and passion directly into music.
On the other hand, ZAQ the creator takes a more bird’s-eye view. I calmly think about what melodies or lyrics will sound most appealing for a given person’s voice. Rather than expressing my own taste, the focus is on drawing out the core of the other artist.
What they both share, however, is the desire to move emotions. In the end, I think that’s the reason I make music.
- Anime fans around the world often connect deeply with anisongs because they become tied to powerful memories and emotions. What do you hope international fans will feel when they listen to “Liar Veil” while watching Classroom of the Elite Season 4?
アニソンは、作品と結びついた強い記憶や感情とともに、世界中のファンの心に深く残るものだと思います。海外のファンが『ようこそ実力至上主義の教室へ Season 4』を観ながら「ライアーヴェール」を聴いたとき、どんな気持ちを受け取ってほしいと考えていますか？

I built the track so the groove and melody can be fully conveyed across countries and languages. I’d be happy if listeners could feel that ZAQ the artist can sing with a mature, jazzy vibe in a way that fits Classroom of the Elite.
- You have many fans in Latin America and especially in Mexico who love your music and anime songs. Would you like to visit this region someday for a live performance or anime event, and what message would you like to share with your Latin American fans?
